Objective:

The primary goal of this project was to develop an advanced, visually engaging dashboard using Excel to analyze and enhance the understanding of a Boston-based bank's performance across its four branches. This tool aimed to amplify the bank's decision-making processes by offering comprehensive, data-driven insights.

Methodology:

Data Preparation and Cleansing: The project began with normalizing a dataset containing over 105,000 records from the bank. This step was crucial for ensuring accurate analysis and generating reliable insights.

Data Visualization: I used Pivot To provide a well-rounded understanding of the bank's performance, I employed various types of data visualizations, including segmented data widgets (sliders), shadow graphs, bar charts, and speedometers. Each visualization was designed for easy readability and interpretability.

Interactive Reporting: The dashboard was designed to be interactive, allowing users to change data periods and instantly visualize corresponding changes in data patterns.

Technical Tools/Software:

  • Excel: Served as the primary tool for constructing and designing the dashboard.
  • Pivot Tables: Used for summarizing, analyzing, exploring, and presenting the bank's data.
  • Excel VBA/Macros: Enhanced the dashboard's interactivity and functionality through task automation and customization.
  • Conclusion:

  • The dashboard revealed critical insights into the bank's performance, including a total invoiced amount of $3,287,374 across all branches.

  • Payment categorization (cash, digital, and other types) provided insights into customer preferences.

  • The financial forecast for the upcoming period estimated a total of $3,335,918, indicating a promising growth phase.

  • Sales analysis identified the Downtown Branch as the most lucrative, followed by Cambridge, Salem, and Quincy branches.

  • The financial forecast predicted an 18% increase in revenue for the next year, a vital insight for the bank's strategic planning and goal setting.
